Every year on January 1st, I get up early (well, early-ish, depending on my alcohol consumption the night before), go to a coffee shop and fill out my Yearly Life Planner. I know it’s super cliche’ to goal plan on the first day of the New Year. I might as well start my new cleanse diet, start a new budget and delete all my social media apps too. It’s not about a New Years resolutions, BUT, the start of a new year, or new month, is a perfect time to assess your life and roadmap how you’re going to make your vision a reality. And if you don’t have goals, you need to get your sh*t together and start mapping out your life! (just kidding… well kind of).
First, think about every aspect of your life and what you want it to look like.
Where do you want to be in 5 years? What do you want to get rid of that is holding you back (i.e. social media, toxic relationships, shopping habits)? What is your dream career? If it’s not your current job, how are you going to get there?
Second, WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU WANT and set up your year for success. You don’t have to figure out your life in one morning at a coffee shop, but start visualizing and you’ll be set up to accomplish
Now that you’re inspired, here are some planners to help you plan your life:
(p.s. I spent a few weeks researching and testing planners before I narrowed down this list to a few favs)
- Passion Planner (This is the one I’ve used for the last 3 years)
- Pros: Helps you plan the year with a weekly and monthly layout to help stick to your goals. Has a soft cover (yes thats important if you want to take it everywhere), motivational quotes and spans the full year (no need to buy one over quarter). Dated too!
- Cons: Only one size 6.9″ x 9.8″ . Not small, but it works
- Cost: $35
- Panda Planner
- Pros: Soft cover and compact. Has a layout that forces you to think about your goals and layout specifics on how you’ll reach them. Daily, weekly and monthly layout to motivate you to open it every day.
- Cons: Only lasts 90 days, so you’ll need a few throughout the year. Undated (good if starting mid year, not great if you want to start beginning of the year)
- Cost: $30
- Erin Condren Life Planner
- Pros: Pretty & customizable. Full year layout so you only need one all year
- Cons: Big. For me, I like compact so I can throw it in any bag, but if that doesn’t bother you, you might love this one!
- Cost: $56 *only need to buy one all year)
- Law of Attraction Planner
- Pros: Soft cover. Focus is on bringing gratitude and focus to your everyday life. Forces you to think about the good things in your life every day and what you want to achieve.
- Cons: Undated (maybe I’m being lazy, bu I don’t want to fill this out!). depending on what your goals are: If you want to feel more peaceful and fulfilled, this is perfect. If you need motivation to hit key goals, this probably isn’t what you need.
- Cost: $30
